With add-ons restored, I was able to narrow down that whatever was causing the add-ons problem occurred between 2 - 12 April. Happy to report that I got back ALL my Bookmarks and Add-ons, though I still could not install/update add-ons. but I remember that on 5th May I creating a new Firefox profile, opened the file and pasted into it all files copied from the Old Firefox Data folder (pasted old data over new data) and restarted. Not entirely sure of all steps taken from here. I was ecstatic when found buried in documents. : )) Next, I hunted around for the "Old Firefox Data" folder that had been created during Firefox install and refresh, and which had disappeared after the system restore. This also didn't fix the Add-ons problem but staying with this version as the most secure. Unfortunately, this didn't fix the Add-ons problem, so I uninstalled and installed the newest version (59.0.3) that had been released during the last few days. Thank you for the download link to Firefox version 58.0.02, which I wanted to try out as it was the version when my install/update of Add-ons worked perfectly. Then I looked at sorting Firefox troubles. I used NRnR (Norton Remove and Reinstall) and finally had fresh working Norton Security. I used the uninstaller of the 2nd installed N/S version to uninstall.Ħ. I installed Norton Security from a disc which means I ended up with 2 Norton programs, restarted and finally had a partly responsive Norton Security.ĥ. I run Norton Power Eraser which didn't help.Ĥ.

I used Revo uninstaller which was also unable to help.ģ. I tried to uninstall Norton Security from program and features as well as from Norton Security uninstaller, but both unresponsive.Ģ. I also experienced some problems with Windows Defender that were caused by the Norton Security lockup.ġ. In the meantime, Windows Defender took over and provided some security with 1 way firewall protection. It took me a whole day to realize that the system restore also messed up Norton security and made it totally unresponsive.įor anyone running Norton Security wishing to create or restore from a system restore point must first read this article: Restoring from the system restore point I'd created prior to uninstalling and deleting Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files, C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData and then re-installing Firefox with Refresh (as mentioned earlier) deleted my bookmarks and Add-ons that were already installed. Troubleshooting the inability to install/update add-ons got me into serious trouble that had me working for many days & hours on the problems, hence my lengthy silence on this thread.ġ.
